Corsetry Intensive with Melanie Talkington – Hosted by Capilano University

CAD $0.00

For the first time ever, Capilano University will be hosting a Corsetry Intensive course available to the public! This course will be run by Melanie Talkington of Lace Embrace Atelier. Melanie is a master corsetiere who has been making corsets for over 30 years, and has created incredible pieces for vast number of clients, including individuals like Cathy Jung (Guiness World Record holder for the smallest corseted waist at 15”!), as well as Dita Von Teese, Pamela Anderson, and Dolly Parton. She has also worked with film productions such as Suckerpunch, Interview With A Vampire, Once Upon a Time, and many more!

Melanie teaches the final year 2 corsetry project for the Capilano University “Costuming for Stage and Screen” program every year in April, and is excited to be making her expertise available to the public.

The course will take place over two weekends, from May 17-20, and May 24-26, 2024. The cost of the program is $699 CAD + tax. All materials are included. Please bring a lunch for the break!

Requirements: Students will need a minimum of 3 years of sewing experience, as this is advanced sewing course. Previous experience with industrial sewing machines and pressing equipment is recommended, although we do have a few domestic sewing machines available for use.

The cut-off deadline for sign-up was May 13, 2024. Registration is now closed. For more information, contact [email protected].
