Imagine a corset made entirely of ribbon and steel boning – that’s exactly what the Mina corset is comprised of! Although it’s definitely not a corset to tight-lace in, it makes a beautiful piece for bridal, honeymoon and boudoir.
The Mina is unique, as much of the steel boning is clustered at the side, and does not have individual bone casings at the front and back of the corset. 10 spring steel bones in total are used to support the corset, which include a cluster of three at the side and two at the back where the eyelets are placed. The Mina forms a sharp point centre front at both the top and the bottom of the busk. The ribbon bow to match is a sweet optional accessory.
Realistically, this corset gives a nice cinch but is not intended to be tight-laced in. The hipline being quite short makes this corset a wonderful accessory over bias cut slips and even mid-century vintage cuts with lots of volume in the skirt. Alternatively, this piece can be worn simply as an undergarment with the option of adding ribbon garters to match.
This baby blue ribbon Mina corset is made with a special poly-satin Moiré ribbon, which is designed to resembled a wood grain or water-ripple effect.
