Did you know? Lace Embrace Offers Alterations!

For as long as we've been in business, Lace Embrace Atelier has offered alterations on all our corsets. Whether you need your corset taken up or down a size a size, need a busk traded out for a zipper, or you want flossing embroidery or leather tips added to your boning channels, we've got you covered! Alterations costs are based on labour time, complexity, and materials.

CUSTOMIZING AN EXISTING CORSET

1. When you buy a corset from us, or bring in a third party piece, we start by checking the sizing to make sure that we can get the fit as close as possible before we make any changes.

For best results, we measure you and the corset, and then mark or pin where changes need to be made.

2. From there, we make any changes that need to be made to the size or shape of your corset, and add the desired embellishments.

We've cut this Sage Green Cincher example under the bust for comfort after we measured the customer for fit and noted that it was sitting a bit too high at the top edge. This cut can be done on almost any underbust style corset (for example, our cinchers or Edwardians.)

We also added gold lace trim to compliment the fabric colour and draw the eyes to the lovely curved edge.

3. We added flossing embroidery to the bottom edge of the corset. This has two functions:

1) It adds visual appeal to your corset. There are a number of classic historical designs you can choose from to express your personality and tastes!

2) If you've ever had the underwire on a bra poke through the end of its boning channel just from day to day movement, you'll know how frustrating it is. When embroidery flossing is added to the bottom or top edge of the corset's boning channels, it cuts down the range of movement that the steel bones inside have, thereby extending the life of your corset!

4. Finally, we've finished off the alterations on this corset by adding in a modesty panel and some matching gold ribbon laces. The modesty panel is designed to be worn so that no fabric or skin is visible through the lacing gap at the back, as well as to add an additional bone at the center back for more support.

The ribbon laces add a lovely decorative touch to your corset. If desired, we can match colour elements in the fabric of your corset with the colour of the ribbon, or if you want sturdier laces for cinching, we can switch out existing laces for our cotton laces.
